At this moment boattours are prohibited because of ice growth. Ice
skating is possible Friday 10, Saturday 11 and perhaps (depending the
forecast) Sunday 12 February on Cornelisgracht (start Hylkemaweg at our address), canals in the village and the shallow lake Bovenwiede, also villages like Dwarsgracht, Wanneperveen.
2012:
Boattaxi to the center (departure Hylkemaweg 1 next to the busstop Connexxion and tourist information office) €2,50 per person. Boatrental, canalcruise and restaurant open's from 10 in the morning. CLOSED ON THURSDAY'S You can contact us by mail or phone.
The cash desk for tickets canaltour and boatrent will be open daily from 10 am - 6 pm

Also all the small open boats are driven by electrical motor.
For the tourist who does not prefer the guided tour with the big boat but to drive the boat by himself / herself there is the possibility to rent the city tour audio guide; extra information about Giethoorn by mp4 player during the boattrip.
Restaurant: The toilets are extended with a second toilet for the disabled.
The svcd is suitable for every DVD player or computer.

The most environmentally friendly business of Giethoorn is Canaltouring Company the little Swan. Allready started testing the electrical driven touringboat a few years ago, they started with the construction of a complete new and more luxury boat which will also be driven electrical. The benefits for the tourist are the lack of fuel inhalation of a traditonal gazmotor, decreasing the noise which makes the tour a lot pleasant and last bot not least of course the deduction of CO2.Also all the small open boats are driven by electrical motor.
